Joe was a man after God's own heart.  For 44 years, as a husband, he loved his wife as Christ loved the church.  As a father, he brought his three children up in the training and instruction of the Lord.  In all areas of his life eh exemplified God's word in Matthew 25: 34-40 by helping all he saw in need.

Joe spent his life working and living in many different places but he always longed to be home of the farm in Bugtussle.  He served his country in the National Guard for 6 years, worked for Farmers Home Administration for 16 years, was President at First Bank Roxton for 23 years, preached for 28 years, was an elder at Oak Ridge Church of Christ for 18 years and farmed all his life.

Joe is survived by his wife Sylvia Arnold Wishard, and daughters Sherry Parson & husband Brent, and their daughter Kristen; Teresa Lieske & husband Ed, and their son Matthew; Julie Anderson & husband Zac.  Also surviving are brother Tommy Wishard & wife Carol; sisters Sue Fox & husband Richard, Beth Norwood, and Kay Holmes.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Joyce Wishard, brother, Ronald and infant brother Robert Byron.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brent Parson, Ed Lieske, Matthew Lieske, Zac Anderson, John Arnold, Daniel Wishard, Stan Smith, Brad Baxter, Justin Milton, and Jonathan Mendez.

Joe spent his life walking in the Light, so his family and friends will continue to honor him for all that he has done and continues to mean to everyone by Walking to End Alzheimers as the "Walking by Faith Team" as we did last year.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make memorials to the "Walking by Faith Team" or to the Oak Ridge Cemetery Association.  Memorials for the walk may be mailed to Teresa Lieske, 522 Pecos, Chandler, TX 75758.  Cemetery donations may be mailed to Rhonda Shinpaugh, 761 CR 3475, Honey Grove, TX 75446.
