The Dodd City Hornets jumped out to an 8-run lead in the first inning Tuesday evening against Bland in district baseball action. The Hornets went on to a 12-2 win in 5 innings to take over first place in District 16A.
The first-inning outburst was highlighted by Dalton Underwood's three-run double. Landon Liebel pitched well, earning his third district win. Liebel allowed just 2 hits, 2 walks and one run in five innings of work. He also had 6 strikeouts.
At the plate, Dodd City was led by Kyle Turner, who was 2 for 3 with a double and 3 RBI. Hunter Brent was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI, Dakota Brown went 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored, and Walker Phillips was 1 for 3 with 2 runs and an RBI double.
