Bonham -- Fans of the Dodd City Hornets baseball team and the Sam Rayburn Lady Rebels softball team are used to traveling in order to keep up with their respective teams.

After all, the Hornets and the Lady Rebels made it all the way to the UIL State Tournament in 2012.

Dodd City and Sam Rayburn fans only had to make a short drive to Bonham Monday to watch these two teams be recognized at  the regular meeting of Fannin County Commissioners Court Monday morning.

Fannin County Judge Spanky Carter presented plaques to coaches from Dodd City and Sam Rayburn, but first Judge Carter complimented both teams, not only for their athletic prowess but, perhaps far more impressive, for the character these young men and women exude on and off the playing field.

On behalf of Fannin County Commissioners Court and all the residents of Fannin County, Judge Carter expressed gratitude to the parents, coaches, principals and school administrators who have all played important roles in shaping the lives of the outstanding young men and women on these two teams.
