McKinney Chamber of Commerce set to honor winners at annual Awards Celebration

McKinney -- The McKinney Chamber of Commerce is proud to host its annual Community Awards Celebration at the Collin County Regional Airport on February 15 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Each year the Chamber and community partners honor individuals and businesses who exemplify exceptional commitment and contributions to our community
.

The USO/WWII themed evening will include entertainment by the Vintage Vibes, who will provide a musical tribute to the 40s, 50s and 60s. WWII antique aircraft, dinner, cocktails and comedic interludes by master of ceremonies, Kelly Wick, promises a memorable evening.

The Carey Cox Citizen of the Year Award is given to an individual who has significantly contributed to the community’s well-being through his/her expenditure of resources, energy and creativity over a sustained period of time. This person has demonstrated outstanding commitment in civic, religious, economic, educational or cultural areas. They also exemplify the highest qualities of commitment and dedication and are recognized as outstanding role models of responsible citizenship.

The Outstanding Small Business of the Year Award is given to a business that has enhanced the economy of McKinney through the successful, long-term and profitable operation of their business. The recipient exhibits innovative industry-wide leadership, as well as with employees and clients and exemplifies outstanding customer service.

The Outstanding Business of the Year Award is given to a business that has enhanced McKinney’s economy through successful, long-term and profitable operation. The recipient exhibits community involvement, innovative leadership with employees, clients and within its industry, and exemplifies outstanding customer service.

The Leadership Alumni of the Year Award is presented to a leadership program graduate who has made a positive and lasting difference in McKinney through active involvement while serving as a role model for others. The recipient demonstrates leadership in their profession and their distinguished professional achievement has merited praise from peers and colleagues. The recipient is an inspiration to others and gives their time and/or resources to projects and programs that benefit the community as a whole.

Community partners throughout the city who will also celebrate success at this annual event include the City of McKinney, McKinney Economic Development Corporation, McKinney Community Development Corporation, the McKinney Convention and Visitors Bureau and McKinney Main Street. Celebrating the accomplishments of the business community and the individuals who are dedicated to maintaining a superior quality of life is another reminder of why McKinney earned the No. 2 spot on Money Magazine’s prestigious 2012 list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the nation.
