Denison resident Bob Brown has been named February Photographer of the Month by the Friends of Hagerman NWR.
Brown, who says, “I have always been interested in photography,” will have a virtual album of twelve photographs taken at the Refuge featured on the Friends website, www.friendsofhagerman.com/Gallery, for the month.
Brown stated that a long time ago he owned a Olympus OM series 35 mm film camera. In the mid 1990’s he purchased his first digital camera, a point and shoot. He has since wanted to get a nice digital camera and learn how to really take pictures.
Into this situation stepped Carl Hill, a regular volunteer at Hagerman and past Photographer of the Month.
Brown, who works at Johnson-Burks Supply as IT/ Office Manager, says, “Carl Hill was a customer of mine and in conversation told me about Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. So in August my girlfriend and I went out and walked Meadow Pond trail. That afternoon I bought my camera! The next weekend Carl gave me a tour of the Refuge, and since then I have barely missed a weekend trip out there!”

Also since getting the new camera, Brown received a blue ribbon for his one entry in the Grayson County Fair. Brown says he likes wildlife photography best. His current camera is a Nikon D7000, and for wildlife he is using an AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR.
