Bonham, Texas -- Funeral services for Floyd Ray Gibbs, 80 of Telephone, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Northside Church of Christ. Carl Dye and Jerry McRae will officiate the service. Interment with military honors rendered by United States Army Honor Guard will follow at Duplex Cemetery. Mr. Gibbs passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham.

Floyd Ray Gibbs was born on January 11, 1933 in Elwood, TX to Shuffard and Rena (Eskue) Gibbs.  On February 6, 1956 he married Glenda Nell (Tanner) Gibbs in Savoy, TX. Mr. Gibbs served in the United States Army; was a self-employed rancher, and was a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Bonham. Floyd also served as an Elder for many years at the Honey Grove Church of Christ.

He is survived by wife Nell Gibbs of Telephone, TX; son Gayland Gibbs and wife Jeana of Bonham, TX; daughter Glenda Watson and husband Kim of Denison, TX; grandchildren Emily and Jeremy Pratt, Nathan and Cristyn Gibbs, Whitney Watson, and fiancé Quincy Allison; great grandchild Drew Gibbs and 2 more great grandchildren on the way; brother Duane “ Doodle” Gibbs and wife Jan of Elwood, TX; sister Rita McRae and husband Jerry of Mt. Pleasant; numerous nieces and nephews; and special family friends Carl Cox and Linda Erwin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Phyllis Russell.

Serving as pallbearers will be Carl Cox, Mike Erwin, David Russell, Jacky Gibbs, John Eskue, Tommy Eskue, Jeff McRae and Scott Gibbs. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be men of the Northside Church of Christ.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Duplex Cemetery Association 559 CR 2125, Ivanhoe, TX 75447 or they can be made to Phyllis Russell Scholarship, Sam Rayburn ISD, 9363 E FM 273, Ivanhoe, TX 75447.
