Early Childhood Music Classes are happening in Sherman! Little Musicians is offering a 5 week Winter semester starting Thursday, February 7th for $50.

Heidi Scheibmeir, instructor and owner of Little Musicians, is offering a class Thursday evenings for ages birth to 5-years-old and caregivers. A music CD is included with all the music being used in the class.

A certificate of completion is given at the end of the semester. Classes are being held at their new studio in Sherman.

Little Musicians Early Childhood Music Classes have been in Grayson County for 6 years. Studies show that the greatest window of opportunity for learning music is birth to age 8. Learning music in the early years is just like learning how to speak a language. Babies and children first listen and absorb. Then, they begin cooing and making sounds (music babble).

After awhile, they begin trying to imitate pitches and rhythms, but the imitations will not be correct at first. As they continue to develop, they begin recognizing that their imitations are not correct, and they begin to imitate correctly.

Soon, they are singing on pitch, imitating rhythms on different instruments, finding the resting tone, and improvising their own songs and chants. All this can be done before they even enter school.
