McKinney, Texas - Like today's modern technology mash-ups where presentations, data, and functionality from multiple sources are combined to produce enriched results that stray from their original intent, James Malone combines images in his intensely detailed drawings that play interestingly off each other in unexpected ways.
"I'm intrigued by the chance association of images, colors, mediums, and ideas," says Malone.
Laura Moore Fine Art Studios presents the exhibition "James Malone: 7 Card Draw" featuring the latest work by Malone. Chance, skill and selection allow players of 7 card draw, a version of draw poker typically played in home games, to create stronger hands that generate more action.
Using pencil, marker pens and paint, Malone has recently been creating intriguing intersections between images of birds, money, longhorns, nests, constellations and West Texas vignettes. Whether combined by chance or intentionally Malone's latest body of work is sure to stimulate both visually and mentally.
New York native Malone graduated from the University of New York and continued his graduate studies at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where he resides today. His work has been featured in galleries and museums across the nation, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
