DENTON (UNT), Texas -- Six-time Grammy nominee jazz and jazz-fusion guitarist and composer Mike Stern will perform with the University of North Texas’ world-renowned One O’Clock Lab Band as part of the group’s 52nd Fall Concert.
The concert begins at 8 p.m. on Nov. 20 (Tuesday) at the Murchison Performing Arts Center.
"This will be our 52nd Fall Concert and will feature the great Mike Stern on guitar,” said Steve Wiest, conductor of the One O’Clock Lab Band. “Mike is simply one of the most renowned modern jazz guitarists on the planet, coming to the public's attention with the great Miles Davis bands of the 1980s and then pursuing a wonderful career as a leader and solo artist. I'm looking forward as always to showcasing the music of the six-time Grammy-nominated One O'Clock Lab Band on the first set with new music of our own as well as some classics. The second set will be all Mike Stern charts and will no doubt be an exciting show for all involved!"

About Mike Stern
Mike Stern is a six-time Grammy nominated American jazz guitarist. He is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston. After playing for a few years with Blood, Sweat & Tears, he landed a gig with drummer Billy Cobham and then broke through with trumpeter Miles Davis' comeback band from 1981 to 1983, and again in 1985. Following that he launched a solo career, releasing more than a dozen albums. He was hailed as the Best Jazz Guitarist of 1993 by Guitar Player magazine, and in 2009 was listed on Down Beat's list of 75 best jazz guitar players.
