FORT WORTH More than13,000 individuals from Fort Worth, Tarrant County and all over the country will converge on Camp Bowie Boulevard on Thursday, November 22 Thanksgiving morning for the 31st annual Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot.

This year, the 2012 Moritz Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot, presented by Total Building Maintenance, will include a 1K Gobbler Trot beginning at 8:00 a.m., with the 10 K starting at 8:15 and the 5K beginning at 8:30. The races offer a festive atmosphere with an aerobic warm-up prior to each race, a live band and even a turkey mascot roaming around. All races begin on Camp Bowie at the Westridge intersection. The 5K will end on Sunset and Westridge and the 10K finish line will be at Westridge and Camp Bowie. The entire course maps can be found at www.fwtrot.org
In addition to thousands of runners, there are an entire community of volunteers, family and friends cheering the trotters on. Here are a few fun facts about the Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot:
FUN FACTS ABOUT THE FORT WORTH YMCA TURKEY TROT
· There are nearly 350 valuable volunteers that help orchestrate this annual event, a majority of which help on Thanksgiving morning!
· Race day alone takes more than 200 volunteers giving approximately 1,000 hours of their time.
· In 2011, more than 13,000 runners and walkers participated in the 30th annual event.
· Those participants utilized 52,000 safety pins to affix their numbered bibs.
· More than 1,250 gallons of water is needed to help hydrate race participants drink up, everyone!
· The Westside YMCA assists more than 600 families annually through financial assistance for Y programs through the proceeds raised by the Turkey Trot.
The Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot is a tradition for hundreds of families on Thanksgiving morning, both those living here in the Fort Worth area and those coming home to visit family. We have runners from every state who enjoy starting their Thanksgiving morning on Camp Bowie Boulevard in Fort Worth, said Tony Shuman, President/CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth. Registration kiosks are available at all 12 YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth branches as well as Lukes Locker in Fort Worth and Southlake. There are NO hidden online registration costs or convenience fees. Total price is the same registering online.

Race Day Registration
Due to the earlier start times, registration will begin at 6:00 am on race day. Timed registration will end at 8:00 am on race day.
