Helping Other People Endure through knitting and crocheting

SHERMAN, October 30, 2012 – Dr. Susan B. Thomas, Executive Director of Texoma Council of Governments (TCOG) announced today the Blossoms of H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Endure) Volunteer Knitting and Crocheting group will be having a Holiday Bazaar on Friday, November 2, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Sherman Municipal Ballroom – 405 North Rusk, Sherman, Texas.

“Often, the best gifts are not those bought in a store, but those that are handmade by dedicated volunteers who are offering their time and talents to help others,” Thomas said. “This event is an opportunity for the public to not only purchase handcrafted caps, scarves, and afghans as Christmas gifts, but to also benefit the community at the same time.”

Throughout the year, area victims of abuse are presented with these handmade items in an effort to help ease the pain they may be experiencing as they endure a court proceeding or are having to face their attacker once again to let their voice be heard. All monies raised from the sale of these handmade treasures will be used to buy more yarn and supplies so these volunteers will be able to make more items.

Blossoms of H.O.P.E. meets every Friday morning from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM in the Texoma Room at Texoma Council of Governments. These talented knitters and crocheters are available to teach beginners both young and old during that meeting time.
