McKinney, Texas --- Laura Moore Fine Art Studios presents Godspeed, an exhibition of paintings by Peggy Epner. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, November 10, from 7-10 p.m.

Referencing topography, astronomy, aeronautics, and spiritual lore, Godspeed is an exploration of the concept of solitary journey - a continual passage between places, stages, and lives. Compositionally reductive, the collection features a restrained palette of the gray scale, wood browns, and midnight blue. Several of the paintings trend toward sculpture with the inclusion of found wood and hardware.

Epner's signature use of wood shards as a form of mark-making has expanded to include wooden objects in the form of oars and propellers.

Says Epner, "Wood, in my work, represents the bodies, spirits, and intentions of people. The inclusion of the wooden oars and propellers suggests the self as agent of its own propulsion and transformation."

Epner is an alum of the University of North Texas and Kent State University. Her work has been included in exhibitions throughout the U.S., including the Seventh Annual Encaustic Invitational, Conrad Wilde Gallery in Tucson, Arizona. Her work was recently featured in the R&F Paint publication Encaustic Works 2012: An Exhibition in Print Selected by Joanne Mattera. This is the artist's second solo exhibition at Laura Moore Fine Art Studios.

Godspeed will be on display through December 5 at Laura Moore Fine Art Studios, 107 S Tennessee in McKinney, Texas. Gallery Hours: Thu-Sat 11am-5pm, 2nd Saturday 11am-10pm, or by appointment. Free admission. 214.914.3630. www.lauramooreart.com
