Bonham -- The Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center was under a lockdown from shortly after 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Friday, October 26 as law enforcement surrounded the facility to investigate a phone threat.

An anonymous caller phoned the V.A complex at 1:07 p.m. and said "bomb and two shooters" and then repeated the threat. The decision was made to lock down and search the entire facility for suspicious items and persons.  None were found. Bonham V.A. reopened at 3:30 p.m.

Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center has a small police force, but State Police, Bonham Police Department and Bonham Fire Department personnel responded to the threat.
