Dia de los Muertos is a time when the remembrance of family, friends, and life are celebrated. The observance of Dia de los Muertos dates from pre-Columbian times. The celebration is also referred to as Day of the Dead because two important days November 1 All Saints’ Day and November 2 All Souls’ Day ceremoniously and festively honors those who have died.

For Dias de los Muertos the skeleton represents the dead playfully mimicking the living and is not a morbid symbol at all. Grayson College's Visual Arts Department will host its first Dia de los Muertos Exhibit at the 2nd Floor Gallery featuring 96 works by 63 artists.
