It's that time again; the Grayson County Fair opens on Thursday, Oct 11 at 4:00 p.m.

Before that, though we want you to bring in your arts and craft item -like knitting and crochet or jewelry, or how about showing your art work, your photography, canning, baking skills? All entries in the Creative Arts building are due on Wednesday, Oct 10. Quilts are entered early so we can get them judged and arranged before we spread out to judge all the other items. Quilts are due between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct 10. All other creative arts exhibits should arrive between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. All entries are turned in to the Creative Arts building at Loy Lake Park. Entries are $3.00 per exhibit. Exhibitors will receive a ticket to enter the fairgrounds so they can come back and see their items after they have been judged and on exhibit. All entries must stay until 5:00 pm on Sunday, Oct 14.

New this year is a pumpkin decorating contest. You do need to show us a before photo and a photo of you decorating the pumpkin. We are excited to have added this to the event.

Also new this year is a Bread Contest. Entries for the Bread Contest need to arrive at the Grayson County Fair Grounds on Sunday, Oct 14. Check -in will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with the judging starting at 2:00 pm. Breads will be judged on taste, symmetry of shape, uniform browning, texture, creativity and overall appearance. Cost for the bread contest is $5.00 per entry. You do not need to send in a pre-registration, but you do need to call Susan Holt, superintendent to let her know you plan to enter so she can give you details on getting into the park. Her number is 903-816-3036.

We hope to see a full Creative Arts building this year at the 2012 Grayson County Fair. And even if you don't enter, come on out and see what others are doing in Grayson County.
