Paris, TX -- The Paris Community Theatre proudly presents the hilarious comedy, A Little Murder Never Hurt Anybody. Sponsored by Harrison Walker & Harper and Pools and More, Inc., the production runs October 11-14, 2012, in historic downtown Paris at the Plaza Theatre on the square.

Envious of a widower friend living the high life after a spouse’s death, wealthy Matthew Perry (Dave Johnson) decides to murder his own wife so that he, too, can have some real fun!  On New Year’s Eve, he blithely informs Julia Perry (Lisa Martin) of his resolution to do her in within the year.  Level-headed Julia, affectionately indulgent of her husband’s whims and doubtful that he is clever enough to pull it off anyway, counters with a resolution of her own:  to be alive for a toast when next New Year’s Eve rolls around.  

So the games begin - a hilarious year-long match of wits and the witless in the homage to the screwball comedies of the 1930s and 1940s by Ron Bernas.  While Julia cleverly dodges Matthew’s devious murder attempts, the Perry friends are dying off mysteriously.  It seems Matthew is successful in murdering everyone but Julia. 

As the bodies are falling, dim-witted daughter Bunny (Audrey Faires) contemplates calling off her wedding to unwitting Donald (Steven Pyles) since all the intended gift-bearing guests are dying.  Enter Detective Plotnik (Joshua Maxwell) – a Sam Spade reincarnation who suspects everyone, but hasn’t a clue. That is, not until Donald stumbles upon Julia and gentlemanly butler Buttram (Alan Jones) in what Donald mistakenly perceives as a compromising situation. Donald jumps to the conclusion that Julia is the murderer -- trying to murder Matthew! 

The ensemble also includes servants (Danielle Frankland, Kelci Welch, Miquel Silva).

The two- act comedy accumulation of bizarre offstage deaths is directed by Doug Faires and Vicki Frankland and produced with special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
