Bonham -- For the next few days, there will be more than books flying in and out of Bonham Public Library. Until October 6, the first room on the right will be a pumpkin beauty parlor.

Pumpkin Patch Bazaar is Bonham Public Library's biggest fundraiser and for a very good reason; by the time October 6 rolls around, these won't be just any pumpkins. Some will have a humorous Halloween face every child will love and some will have a frightening face that only a mother pumpkin could love, but each one will be a unique example of eco-art that will entertain family, friends and guests throughout the holidays. And then you can toss it in your garden and grow your own pumpkins.

Sally Delk is one of the board members at Bonham Public Library who donate countless hours to make Pumpkin Patch Bazaar a tremendous success.

While the board of directors at Bonham Public Library is famous for artistic pumpkin creations, these ladies are just as well known for their baking skills. Tables full of cakes, pies and cookies are another huge draw at the annual Pumpkin Patch Bazaar.

Another special feature is the Red Pepper Relish, a secret recipe of red peppers and savory spices that will be sold in half-pint and pint jars. Pumpkin Patch Bazaar will also have Grandma's Pantry, a collection of delicious jams and jellies.

Aside from artistic pumpkins and culinary delights, Pumpkin Patch Bazaar is also the best place around to pick up some great reading material for those cold and rainy days ahead. A huge book sale with remarkably low prices is always a crowd favorite.

Speaking of the crowd, the line begins forming well before Bonham Public Library opens its doors at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6.  If you snooze, you lose out on amazing pumpkins and fantastic baked goods. Circle the day on your calendar, set your alarm clock and get your running shoes ready; this crowd plays for keeps and by 10:00 a.m. half of the items are gone.
