The Autumn in Bonham Bike Rally was a big success.  The start/stop point was at the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex.  We had 461 bikers come to Bonham and ride their bikes through our beautiful countryside.  They rode over 4 routes to the east and south of Bonham – including the Leonard Hills – and 2 routes to the north of Bonham.  We added 16 miles to the 64 mile route – which made 80 miles for the riders.  That route went out to Monkstown, FM 100 and to the rest stop at East Lake Crockett boat ramp.  Riders talked about how beautiful it is in that area of the county.

Volunteers made the bike rally a success:  Rotary Club put out the route signs, Kiwanis Club handled parking, Chi Lambda did registration, Lions Club manned the table with fruit/cold water as part of the “welcome back to the complex” committee, Fannin County Amateur Radio Club handled all communication between the rest stops and the complex, and Bill Thornton of the Baptist Association organized the 12 rest stops.  We had over 50 volunteers at intersections on the routes – to keep the riders safe.  Bonham Police Department and Fannin County Sheriff officers did traffic control at red-light intersections and led the bikers as far out as the city limit signs to get them started.  The EMS workers from the Bonham Fire Department came to the complex – to be on standby in case of an emergency.

So many people in Fannin County made the bike rally a big success.  Our thanks to everyone who assisted with Autumn in Bonham.
