Bonham, Texas – Big Brothers Big Sisters in Fannin County and all over the world have been an inspiration to many children in need of guidance and mentoring. Big Brothers Big Sisters is not your typical organization. They help children realize their potential and build their futures. They also nurture children and strengthen communities. Without the help of many charitable individuals and businesses this amazing organization could not exist.

On July 21, 27 golfers from the community, Big Brothers Big Sisters board members, and employees of Legend Bank gathered at the Bonham Golf Club to participate in a Glow in the Dark Golf Tournament to support Big Brothers Big Sisters in Fannin County.

Teams crowded around for tee-off and played the first ninee holes while it was still light outside.  Legend Bank’s Bill Yarbro cooked delicious ribs for everyone to enjoy for dinner.  When it was dark, participants got a rare chance to see and hit glow golf balls in the dark and play nine more holes.

Legend Bank Employees planned and volunteered for the event.  A total of $4,600 was raised to benefit Fannin County Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor-supported volunteer organization that places caring adults in the lives of children in one-to-one mentoring relationships. Through the positive impact of those friendships, children with a Big Brother or Big Sister are more likely to graduate from high school and are less likely to begin using drugs, begin using alcohol or engage in negative conflict. Big Brothers Big Sisters serves this mission through a professional staff that carefully works with both the volunteers and the children to ensure that the experience of Big Brothers Big Sisters is dynamic, fulfilling, memorable and fun for both the child and the volunteer.  For more information on Big Brothers Big Sisters program contact Emily Neeley at 888.887.2447 ext. 503 or eneeley@bbbstx.org.
