Country music legend Steve Wariner to perform at Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant Sept. 27

DURANT, OKLAHOMA  – On Thursday, September 27, country music legend Steve Wariner will perform at Choctaw Casino Resort’s CenterStage venue, located an hour north of Dallas off Highway 69/75 in Durant, Oklahoma.  Tickets start at $19.95 and can be purchased by phone at 1-800-585-3737 or online at www.ChoctawCasinos.com. Wariner was born in Noblesville, Indiana, on December 25, 1954. Influenced at an early age by George Jones and Chet Atkins, Wariner started performing in his father's band and later moved on to playing in local clubs. At age 17, he was discovered by Dottie West and was hired on the spot to play as her bass player. After his stint with West, Steve Wariner toured playing bass for Grand Ole Opry star Bob Luman and it was during this period that he signed with RCA Records. He has also worked closely with Glen Campbell, whom he has cited as a major influence on his work. 

To date, Wariner has released 27 studio albums, has charted more than 50 singles on the Billboard country singles charts, 14 of which have reached #1, has won four Grammy Awards, most recently in 2010 for his composition “Producer’s Medley” from Steve Wariner, c.g.p., My Tribute to Chet Atkins album, and has won four CMA Awards, winning Vocal Event of the Year in 1991 for his appearance with Vince Gill and Ricky Skaggs on Mark O’Connor and the New Nashville Cats, Single of the Year as artist and producer and Song of the Year in 1998 for “Holes in the Floor of Heaven.”

In addition to writing or co-writing the majority of his own songs, Wariner holds several writing credits for other artists including #1 hits for Clint Black and Garth Brooks, as well as singles for Bryan White and Keith Urban. Other artists with whom he has worked include Nicolette Larson, Glen Campbell, Mark O'Connor, Asleep at the Wheel and Brad Paisley.
