Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, MCKINNEY, TEXAS – The McKinney Experience, a community orientation program presented by the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, will begin its fall 2012 session on Friday, Sept. 28.

The six-week program is open to individuals interested in learning about the inner-workings of McKinney and about how to become a more integral, active participant in the community. New or established citizens will benefit from this “back-stage pass” perspective of McKinney. Registration is ongoing through Sept. 24.

Attendees will:

• Connect with leaders and fellow citizens.

• Develop a working knowledge of McKinney.

• Dialogue about community issues.

• Learn about what makes McKinney Unique by Nature.

Chris Spear participated in the spring session of The McKinney Experience after living here since 1989. “The Chamber of Commerce nailed it – I learned more about McKinney during this six-week program than I had in the past 22 years,” Spear said. “If you work or have a business in McKinney, this program is a must. If you simply want to get plugged into the community in which you live and do business, this program is vital.”

For six consecutive Fridays beginning on Sept. 28, participants will learn from the inside out why McKinney earned the prestigious No. 2 ranking on Money Magazine’s list of the 100 Best Places to Live in the nation for 2012. From day one, which begins with a McKinney Trolley tour of the city, class members will receive the opportunity to visit significant sites throughout the city – and go behind the scenes to places the public doesn’t often get to visit.

Tuition is $200 or $275 with a spouse or friend. Interested individuals may register online at mckinneychamber.com, at the Chamber office located at 2150 S. Central Expressway, or by contacting Deb Fitzgerald: 972.542.0163 or dfitzgerald@mckinneychamber.com

Registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 24.
