It may be called "Kids Alley," but it's going to be smack dab in the middle of Lee Street in downtown Greenville next weekend as Rally 'Round Greenville gets underway.

Instead of cars, the street festival will fill the space with bounce houses for the kids, a mini-train ride, dunking booth, games and a demonstration of GISD's winning Robotics Team. Kids Alley even has its own stage of entertainment.

L-3 Communications, Mission Integration returns as the title sponsor for the three-day event (Sept. 14-16) which also includes professional musicians on the Bud Light Stage, a barbecue and chili cook-off, art show and a free Friday night kick-off concert/street dance in front of Landon Winery.

Most Kids Alley activities are free, due in part to sponsors Comfort Suites of Greenville, Keep Greenville Beautiful and Hunt Regional Healthcare.

The 2012 edition of Rally 'Round Greenville is the seventh year the festival has been held in conjunction with the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Cotton Patch Classic Bicycle Race and Tour.

Strolling artists, a special model train exhibit in Uptown Forum Shopping Mall, vendors of all types and sidewalk sales are also part of the fun.

Music on the main stage Saturday and Sunday includes performances by Chris Knight, The Tejas Brothers, Jonathan Jeter and the Revelators, Loose Gravel, Jason Walton, The Blandelles, Shake Rattle and Roll, Elvis Tribute Artist Josh Davis, Jewels Herbert, Alex Addy and the Tambourine Machine, and Pearl Street Riot. All concerts are free. Stage sponsor is Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Companies.

Arts and crafts vendors and a great variety of foods are also scheduled.

The festival is funded in part with City of Greenville hotel/motel tax
revenues.
