The 30th Annual Sherman Arts Festival coming up this weekend will be a kaleidoscope of visual arts, performing arts, as well as arts and crafts, and it will all be held within the friendly confines of Sherman Municipal Lawn and Sherman Municipal Ballroom. 

A few of the activities planned include a variety of live music, a judged art show and sale for ages 18 and up, a youth art show, woodcarving show, food vendors, cheerleading and karate demonstrations, pumpkin patch, 5K, 10K, fun run, face painting, bounce house, T-shirt painting and much more. 

 

This event gets underway, Thursday, September13 with Sherman Art League Show entries and Woodcarver Show entries being accepted. The Woodcarving Show entries will be judged from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., there will be a reception hosted by Sherman Art League with commentary on award-winning work. The reception is free and open to the public.

On Friday, the Texoma Woodcarvers have a demonstration and show scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Sherman Art League Show & Sale begins at 11:00 a.m. The sale is a perfect place to pick up unique holiday gifts while supporting local artists. The show is open to the public. 

 

Saturday features a full slate of activities, beginning with the pancake breakfast at 7:00 a.m. and continuing nonstop through 5:00 p.m. Then come back to downtown Sherman for a performance by Asleep at the Wheel scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Kidd Key Auditorium. 

Celebrate the arts by simply enjoying the performers or by starting your holiday shopping early. Don't miss this annual, family-friendly festival.
