Bonham -- The Bonham Warriors got on the scoreboard first Friday night, but the Pilot Point Bearcats built a 31-6 lead on their way to a 38-12 win in the season opener for both teams.

The Warriors first score came on a short dive by quarterback Dra Smith as Bonham went up 6-0 with 9:38 left to play in the first quarter.

Pilot Point came back to lead 14-6 at the end of the opening period after a pair of rushing touchdowns by Tristan Jurecka.

The Bearcats went to the air for their next two scores as Pilot Point quarterback Travis Garrett connected with Creed Bright and Jacob Lock on scoring strikes to give the Bearcats a 25-6 advantage at intermission.

Garrett got loose on an 11-yard run to pay dirt early in the third period to put Pilot Point up 31-6.

Bonham's Jacob Kemp broke into daylight for a long run to set up the Warriors' final score of the evening. Smith lofted a 30-yard pass to the goal line where A.J. White outjumped a defensive back to grab a touchdown pass that made the score 31-12.

Pilot Point pounded out the last TD of the night to make the final score 38-12.

The Bonham Warriors (0-1) will travel to North Lamar September 7 for their next contest.  On September 14, Bonham will host Pottsboro for the 2012 BHS Homecoming game.
