The Dodd City store went up in flames Friday afternoon, August 31 and burned to the ground. Most people fondly remember the store as Harold's Country Store in the late 80s through the early 90s.

Back then it was a place that all the locals went to get great food and to hear any news around town or just to learn something they didn't know about. Townspeople joked that folks came out of the store a lot smarter than when they entered the popular business.

Harold Horton was owner of Harold's Country Store, along with twin brothers, Johnny and Brandon Horton.  Family members, often with the assistance of their high school friends, helped run the store.

Among the many memories to survived that era are the two employees who began dating and are still married.  Any regular customer of Harold's Country Store has a favorite memory of the local establishment and, for Dodd City residents, everything except those memories went up in smoke August 31.
