McKinney, Texas - From the 17th century, the still life has historically persevered as one of the major themes of art. Husband and wife duo, William and Carolyn Patterson, are both Contemporary Realist painters who are engaged with the still life; Carolyn works primarily with the still life and landscape and William includes the still life along with a concentration on figurative and landscape subjects.

Carolyn describes her artistic approach as a commitment to the "depiction of nature with both scrutiny and poetry." From William's perspective, "The fleeting moments of life around me become a vehicle for the expression of symbolic and poetical concepts."

"The Still Life: His and Hers" features over twenty original still life paintings from William and Carolyn. Each painting tells a story, be it a promise of a delectable hand prepared meal, the expectation of a new day, a love story or the rich allusion of less obvious narratives.
