The Melissa Lady Cardinals traveled to Aubrey and fell short, 3-2, in a very close match.
The Aubrey won the opener 25-23, but Melissa answered with a decisive victory in game two, 25-12.
Aubrey bounced back to take the third set, 25-21, and once more Melissa answered the challenge with a solid 25-13 win to even the match.
Aubrey came out on top in the tiebreaker, 15-11, to win the very competitive match.
"The girls went through a lot of ups and downs tonight and struggled with consistency," said Melissa head coach Whitney Nelson. "Freshman Riley Duzenack really helped us when we were down, serving 10 aces in the match. The front line stepped it up with their blocking and stopped the ball from crossing the net with 8 block kills. Junior Madison Rose hit the ball the best she has all season and lead the team with 9 kills."
The Lady Cardinals (8-5) will play in the Frisco ISD Tournament this weekend. Games will be at Lonestar High School on Thursday evening.
