As concern grows over whether or not 2,400 North Texans will continue to have jobs at Triumph-Vought, the union president from Grand Prairie will deliver petitions to Governor Perry on Friday, August 24. He will show the petitions and explain the situation at the Texas AFL-CIO office, 1106 Lavaca in Austin, at 11:00 a.m.

Beginning as soon as he found out that the land beneath the main Triumph-Vought plant was being sold, UAW Local 848 President Romeo Munoz gathered petitions from the employees, their families, area merchants, and the public at large. A simple version of the petition is on-line at http://afl.salsalabs.com/o/4023/c/206/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=4818

In only 3 days, Munoz has gathered thousands of signers demanding that Governor Perry and the state of Texas intervene to save jobs in North Texas. For more information, contact UAW 848, 972-264-2431. The "Workers Beat" program on KNON radio, 89.3 fm and www.knon.org, will discuss the situation at 7 AM Friday, August 24.
