Farmersville -- The Melissa Lady Cardinals traveled to Farmersville Tuesday night and came home winners.

Melissa won in straight sets to move to 5-1 on the season.

Farmersville put up a battle in the opener before falling, 27-25. Melissa kept the momentum to win the next two games, as well, 25-21 and 25-21, to earn the sweep. 

The Lady Cardinals' shining star tonight was senior co-captain Olivia Bennett. She led the team with outstanding communication and 16 digs. Outside hitters Madison Rose and Connar Newberry also kept the girls on their toes with a combined 23 kills.  

The Lady Cardinals will be participating in Prosper tournament this weekend. Melissa's first game is Friday at 12 noon in the competition gym.
