Fannin County Commissioners Court helps Meals on Wheels of Texoma in their fight against hunger

Fannin County Courthouse –  The Fannin County Judge and Fannin County Commissioners presented the Director of Finance of Meals on Wheels of Texoma, Raenelle Weatherly, with a Resolution and funds in the amount of $2,103, during the designated Commissioners Court weekly meeting in the County Courtroom, located on the 1st floor of the County Courthouse at 101 E Sam Rayburn Dr, Bonham, Texas.

Meals on Wheels of Texoma have been serving Fannin County since 1980.  It is a non-profit organization which provides meals to the elderly and disable clients of Fannin County.  They also serve the active senior clients at area Senior Citizen Centers through out Fannin County, including those in Bailey, Bonham, Honey Grove, Ladonia and Leonard, while homebound clients are served through the Home-Delivered Meal Grant Program. 

Fannin County’s resolution and funding will help the organization apply for the grant program.  Fannin County has supported the organization for many years with funding as well as service.

County Judge Spanky Carter presently serves on the Board of Directors in a leadership capacity.  In addition, Judge Carter and Pct. 4 Commissioner Joe Strong have supported Meals on Wheels of Texoma as volunteers, helping deliver meals to client’s homes, as well as participating in Mayors for Meals Day for the past two years.

Fannin County is proud to play a role in helping the organization receive the maximum grant award possible through the Texas Department of Agriculture, Texans Feeding Texans Program.

Fannin County Commissioners Court encourage all of Fannin County’s citizens to support and be a part of this worthy organization.  The organization and volunteers are providing Fannin County’s senior citizens and disabled persons with a much needed service of care and sustenance.
