Sherman, TX, August 9, 2012 -- Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores held its first day of grand opening festivities at its new location in the Sherman Commons, and did so in a charitable and grateful manner.
Diane Walsh, store manager, greeted customers and local officials at the grand opening on Thursday morning.
Sherman Mayor Bill Magers also welcomed the customers by saying, “This is a big deal for Sherman. My wife is a teacher, and she spends a lot of her time here looking for supplies just like a lot of other teachers and parents do. This newer location is great for Sherman citizens and people who come from miles around to shop here.”

Walsh then thanked her staff for all their hard work, and she thanked the loyal customers for their support, too.
“This happened because of our customers; this happened because of you and your support,” Walsh said. “We couldn’t have done this without you, and we appreciate you so much.”
As a thank-you to the Sherman community, Walsh presented $2,000 from their Inspired 2 Help grant to Jill Parker, principal of Crutchfield Elementary in Sherman ISD. Dr. Al Hambrick, Sherman ISD superintendent, and Crutchfield teacher Dafne Stengel were also there to accept the grant.

Our students and neighborhood community will benefit from their generous gift.”
With dozens of loyal customers in attendance of the grand opening ceremony, Jo-Ann Store Manager Diane Walsh and Sherman Mayor Bill Magers officially cut the ribbon to celebrate the opening of the new location.
Jo-Ann recently moved from a storefront on Texoma Parkway to the new location in the Sherman Commons at 4127 N. Hwy 75, in the same shopping center as Kohl’s and Academy Sports + Outdoors.
