The Bonham Rotarians were treated to a program by one of their own members, Ronnie Atnip, who has been a member of the club for many years. Ronnie avidly studies the history of Fannin County and the program for Aug. 8 was about John Wesley Hardin.

Hardin was born in Bonham on May 26, 1853. He was locally known as a Wild West shootout artist who was the son of a preacher. He killed many men who challenged him with a gun and some he just ambushed. Among his many professions, he was a school teacher and preacher. He was caught in Florida by Texas Rangers and brought back to Texas. He was found guilty and was sentenced to 25 years and served 16 years. It is told that he killed 46 men in his lifetime. John Wesley Hardin died in El Paso on Aug. 19, 1895.

The Bonham Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at 12 Noon at the Family Life Center.
