The Fannin County Historical Commission was very pleased with the Quilt Hop on Saturday, July 28. More than 140 visitors viewed the quilts as they enjoyed Amish muffins and lemonade.
Appreciation is expressed to Ethylene Collins of Bells, Texas, for the wonderful quilts of her grandmothers—the “No Name” and the Double Wedding Ring quilts.
Folks enjoyed the Friendship Quilt and Sunbonnet Sue pillow loaned by Janice Finnell.

The Stars and Squares quilt of Raynell Glaser and Grandma’s Garden quilt of David Yates drew attention, as well as the braids and real lace on the baby quilt of Sharon Terry’s son (made by her mother).
Also on display was a Maple Leaf quilt which was tied rather than quilted and a Steps to the Altar quilt made by Mrs. Terry’s grandmother.
Appreciative remarks were made and people were impressed that so many locations participated in the event. The Bonham Public Library, Senior Center, Creative Arts Center, Fannin County Museum, Sam Rayburn Library, Bonham Civic Center and Sam Rayburn House Museum displayed quilts.
