Denison, Texas -- C.A. Bankston longtime resident of Denison, TX passed away Monday July 30, 2012 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born April 21, 1932 the son of Clyde and Anna Belle Selmet Bankston.
He began his career in the trucking industry early in his life until opening his own business, C. A. Bankston Trucking in 1967 where he was owner and operator until his retirement in 1999.
He spent many hours in his younger years riding in rodeos. Most recent years he spent with his friend Jetta. He was a member of Park Avenue Church of Christ in Denison. He married Dorothy Snow on November 26, 2004.
C.A. was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary Bankston, brothers Dwayne and Harley Bankston, sister Vera Rush and granddaughter Victoria Bankston.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Bankston, brother Bobby Bankston, sisters Frances Briscoe and Linda Lowe, brothers-in-law Billy Rush and Jimmy Urban, sister-in-law Fayra Bankston, children Rick Bankston and wife Cindy, Penny Bankston, and Danny Snow and his wife Jan, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in C.A.’s name to Park Avenue Church of Christ Family Life Center, 3000 S. Park Ave., Denison, TX 75020.
Graveside services will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. Mr. Basil McClure will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Mullican-Little Funeral Home of Bells/Savoy, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at the funeral home.
