McKinney's Jammin' in June free music series wrapped up another successful season with a performance by world reggae ambassadors, Watusi. With conga lines of dancers snaking through the crowd in Towne Park Lake and a dozen audience members joining the band onstage, Watusi quickly proved why this group has been an international favorite for almost three decades.

One of the most established reggae bands in the U.S., Watusi has been entertaining crowds for 29 years with their unique sound that draws from reggae, salsa, Afro-beat and much more. The group's music is an honest reflection of a diverse tribe of musicians originally from Africa, the U.S. and the Caribbean. Watusi has shared the stage with reggae heavyweights UB40, Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse and Black Uhuru. Through its co-founder, Jimi Towery, the group even has a direct connection to the late, great Peter Tosh, one of the original Wailers.
