There’s no better time to start painting than right now! The Creative Arts Center will once again offer a summer painting class with local artist Chris Cravens, beginning Thursday, July 5 at 10 am. The two-hour class will meet each Thursday morning through the month of July and the cost is $120. Chris paints in numerous media and is a skilled sculptor, photographer and graphic artist as well. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art. Use your own supplies or the CAC’s.  Bring a friend and spend a morning in an air-conditioned studio learning how to paint or improving the skills you already have.

From July 6 through the entire month of July, the Textile Exhibit will fill the gallery with the quilts of Shirley Stevenson.  Stevenson is well-known nationally and one of her quilts graces the cover of the recently published Lone Stars III; A Legacy of Texas Quilts, 1986-2011. From 9 am to 4:30 PM during the Quilt Hop Tour on July 28, the book will be available for purchase at the Creative Arts Center and Shirley Stevenson will be on hand to sign your book.

July camp dates at the CAC are Monday through Friday, July 16 – 20.  Drama Camp ($38) is scheduled from 10 am to noon and Art Camp ($48 includes supplies) from 1 PM to 3. There is a $10 discount for siblings and scholarships are available. Children from age 6 to 18 are welcome.
