Bonham -- July 2 will find former Bonham City Manager Corby Alexander at his new job as La Porte City Manager on the Gulf Coast. Mr. Alexander served as city manager in Bonham for five years and, in recent months, he was also given the double duty of handling the responsibilities of Executive Director of Bonham Economic Development Corporation (BEDCo).

As the City of Bonham begins the political process of determining the next BEDCo Executive Director, perhaps it would be good to have Alexander's perspective about how Bonham should view this vital position.

"My thought is that Bonham would be so much better off if BEDCo had a full-time Executive Director," says the last man to perform that job, Corby Alexander.  "I think that a professional, certified economic development person could easily devote 40-plus hours a week to economic development activities. If BEDCo could and would pay enough for a full-time professional, we would generate tremendous result. It sort of goes back to that old saying: 'If you keep doing what you have always done, you will get what you have always gotten.' I think that now maybe a great time to try something new. With the right person in place, Bonham could be amazed at the results."
