A Greenville Ghost Tour and séance scheduled for October 27 is already more than half-full, and may develop into a regular attraction for the town.

Thirty-two people have signed up for the event, which has a maximum attendance of 55. According to the Greenville Chamber and Visitors Bureau, reservations have come in from Rowlett, McKinney, Wylie, Garland, Richardson, Prosper, Windom, Trenton and Commerce, as well as Greenville.

This event revolves around the 1897 death and alleged sex-capades of Greenville's first millionaire Tom King. Greenville has been buzzing with the tale of wealth, scandal and tragedy as the 115-anniversary of the mystery is noted.

King had made a fortune in ranching, which he invested in opening his own bank and in building the elaborate and successful King Opera House.

The married King, along with a woman believed to be his mistress, a bank associate and another single woman all went for a midnight swim (under a full moon, no less) at one of King's properties June 16, 1897. Only the bank associate came out alive. Speculation as to what really happened has continued for 115 years.

Was it a freak accident, as the lone survivor claimed? A murder gone wrong? Or a well-planned triple slaying?

Noted trance medium Dwanna Paul will conduct the tour, including visits to East Mount Cemetery and a Victorian home connected to the drowning. The evening concludes with a séance at the Blue Armadillo Winery (once the site of King's own bank). The event will begin at dusk (approximately 6 pm) and will last two hours, including the séance. Guests will board a chartered bus in the 2700 block of Lee Street in downtown Greenville for these destinations. The ticket price of $35 will also include one glass of wine prior to the séance.

J.F. Norsworthy and three others went for a midnight swim in a pond near Greenville in June 1897 and Norsworthy was the only one who came out alive. A noted medium and psychic hopes to shed light on the incident in an event scheduled for this October.

Dwanna Paul has been featured on television's A Current Affair, Sightings, Weird Travels and Haunted Lives as a medium who receives messages from beyond the grave that help families and communities resolve the past while preparing for a brighter future.  Case studies from Waxahachie, Jefferson, Bluffton, SC and Savannah, GA reveal a high level of public interest in séances led by Dwanna Paul. A camera crew will record the event.

The official Ghost Host Hotel is the Best Western Plus Monica Royale, with special rates offered to Ghost Tour participants."

"We also have a couple of people who may be interested in putting together regular ghost tours in Greenville, based on the interest this whole thing has stirred up," said Greenville Chamber Tourism Director Milton Babb.
