Denison -- Hot on the heels of the announcement that Caterpillar was relocating 40 office workers to the Chase Building in downtown Denison, "Team Denison" held another press conference Thursday, June 22 to announce more good news.

"It was just two weeks that we were in this same room," said Denison Mayor Jared Johnson, adding that this latest news was another example of "Team Denison working together to make good things happen."

The announcement Thursday came when Brian Aspell, Champion Cooler's plant manager in Denison, said the company would be closing a facility in Anthony, New Mexico and bringing those jobs to an expanded facility in Denison.

Champion Cooler is Denison's longest standing manufacturer, having opened in 1954. The plant currently employs 134 full-time workers and an additional 70 part-time workers during peak-season production. Mr. Aspell said the consolidation will add another 30 full-time jobs at Champion Cooler.

John Bullard, Denison Development Alliance Board Member, explained that 70%-80% of new jobs come from a city's existing businesses and he described Aspell as "very involved" in the community.
