The Bonham Quilt Hop to be held on July 28, is excited to announce that Lisa Erlandson AQS, a Certified Quilted Textile Appraiser will again be giving appraisals for your treasured quilts and quilted textiles. Appraisals will be given from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 28.  Appointments for quilt appraisals are necessary and may be made by calling the Bonham Visitor Information Center 903-583-9830 or by visiting 327 N. Main to sign up for your appraisal.  The cost of a certified appraisal is $40.00 per quilt and takes about 30 minutes.  You will receive a written appraisal signed by the appraiser, which can be used to document the value of your quilt for insurance policies, authenticate the donation of your quilted item to a museum or collection for tax purposes, to prove its market value if you are planning to sell the quilted item, or to establish a value for a family or estate.

What if a storm causes extensive damage to your house and your treasured family quilts are ruined.  Or what if you are carrying your quilted item to show at a quilt club or to a friend and you leave the quilt or quilts in your car while you run into a store.  While you are gone someone breaks into your car and steals you precious items. Without a written certified appraisal these quilts will be worth no more to the insurance company than a blanket from a discount store.

If you feel that your quilted item is valuable because of the workmanship, its age, the history of the quilt, or the uniqueness of the pattern then it would be appropriate to have it appraised.  Would your family like to know what the quilt you are making for a grandchild, or a child is worth?  A great way to document the value for them is to have it appraised and present the appraisal with the gift.  Whatever the reason, please call the Bonham Visitor Information Center, and schedule an appointment to have your quilt appraised on July 28.
