The 2nd SuperMAHAN 5K & KID FUN RUN will be held on July 7, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. The race will start in the parking lot of the Honey Grove High School. The Fun Run will begin after the 5k. Registration is $25 per runner or walker. Pre-registered participants will receive a t-shirt and a goodie bag. Awards will be given to the top 3 runners in each division. There will be an Overall Male & Female winner. All participants in the fun run will win an award.

This event was held last year on June 18, 2011 to help with the medical expenses of Cade Mahan and his family. On April 30, 2011, Cade was burned over 34% of his body. Cade and his family were at Parkland Hospital in the burn unit and the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas for 6 weeks. He had numerous surgeries. He went to physical and occupational therapy for several months. Cade was active in football, basketball, baseball, 4H, Jr FFA, and hunting & fishing. He was a 6th grade student at Honey Grove Middle School. This is a life-long injury for Cade. He is now as active as he was before and recovering amazingly. He may need to have doctor appointments or surgeries for years to come.

Cade and his family were very, very touched by the outpouring of love that they received. They have decided to make the SuperMAHAN 5K & KID FUN RUN an annual event. The proceeds will be donated to a burn related organization, local Volunteer Fire Departments, and a scholarship fund. The 1st scholarship will be given to a Honey Grove Senior Athlete with the hopes of expanding to other schools in Fannin and Lamar county.
