Commerce, Texas (June 26, 2012)—An articulation agreement was recently signed between Texas A&M University-Commerce and Paris Junior College (PJC), which will allow students to complete the majority of the first two years of an industrial engineering degree at PJC.

The agreement will provide a transfer path for engineering students that is virtually seamless without loss of credit hours from PJC to A&M-Commerce. Individuals who successfully complete the courses defined under the agreement will be able to transfer and apply 62 credit hours toward a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering degree.

“The looming shortage of engineers in the United States has been well documented,” said Brent Donham Engineering and Technology department head. “With community college students representing almost 45 percent of the undergraduate population in higher education, agreements such as this one are vitally important if we are going to produce the number of graduates our state and nation requires.”

Similar agreements have been signed with Northeast Texas Community College, Collin College, and the Dallas County Community College District.

The Department of Engineering and Technology has a transfer liaison who works with potential transfer students as they transition from PJC, or any other school, to A&M-Commerce. For more information call 903-886-5474.
