McKINNEY, TEXAS (June 20, 2012) – Residents who want to get involved in helping shape city policies for a variety of areas from libraries, historic preservation, economic development, to the arts have an opportunity with city boards and commissions. The city is taking applications for open positions through June 29.

“Joining one of the city’s 19 boards and commissions is a great way to help shape the future direction of McKinney,” said City Secretary Sandy Hart. “There are positions open on boards and commissions that would be perfect for a variety of interests, all important to leading our city.”

The SERVE McKinney open house event offers opportunities for those who want to serve to meet current members and staff of various city and non-profit boards. The event, held on Thursday, June 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce, 2150 S. Central Expressway, Suite 150, is sponsored by the McKinney Community Development Corporation and hosted by the Leadership McKinney Alumni Network.
