Home Hospice is looking for a few good volunteers to make a difference in the life of a patient and his or her family by becoming a Patient Support Volunteer.
The two-part training will be held on Friday, June 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday, June 16 from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. The training will be held at The Bonham Housing Authority at 810 W. 16th St. in Bonham. A complimentary lunch will be provided on Saturday.
“A volunteer works as a good friend or neighbor to the patient and family by reading, visiting and allowing family members to run errands or get deserved rest. As a social program, the volunteers do not provide personal care to the patients”, reads a prepared statement by Home Hospice.
Volunteer Coordinator, Barb Samuelson, states, “Currently there are many multigenerational families living together and this training doubles as a wonderful life skills class to help understand about caregiving for the elderly or even chronically ill. The community may take the training without being required to become a volunteer – although we hope you will.”
The training is free but in order to prepare adequate materials, registration is required by June 12. Please contact Samuelson at 903.868.9315 or barb.samuelson@homehospice.org to register or for more information.
