All veterans and the families of veterans are invited to a Memorial Day Celebration planned for 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Red River Valley Veteran’s Memorial site in Paris, Texas.

The Red River Valley Veterans Memorial is dedicated to veterans from Lamar, Fannin, Delta, Red River and Choctaw counties.

Thanks in large part to local school children's Pennies for Patriots campaign, approximately 700 pavers engraved with the names of local veterans have been ordered and the first of the pavers were recently set in place.

The ceremony Monday will begin with a welcoming at 10:00 a.m.  Following the invocation, the Paris Police Department Honor Guard will present the colors. The crowd will recite the Pledge of Allegiance and the North Lamar High School band will play the national anthem.

Following a brief description of the Red River Valley Veteran’s Memorial site, keynote speaker Deloris Clemons will address the crowd. Ms. Clemons is Operations Director at Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center in Bonham.
