In a bi-district series opener played Thursday evening, the Honey Grove Lady Warriors defeated the Wolfe City Lady Wolves, 5-1.
Honey Grove got on the scoreboard first with a run in the bottom of the second inning and then the Lady Warriors scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 5-0 lead.
Wolfe City brought home a runner in the top of the fifth inning, but that turned out to be the final scoring threat and Honey Grove takes a 1-0 advantage in the series with a 5-1 victory.
Chanda Foster fired a two-hitter to get the win.
Avery Andrew led the Lady Warriors at the plate with a pair of hits, while Reghan Thomas, Tanner Reitzer and Foster all had one hit apiece.
Game two will be 5:00 p.m. Monday, April 30 in Bonham starting at 5:00, with game three to follow, if needed.
The winner of this series will advance to face Malakoff Cross Roads.
