Club InterContinental brings new level of sophistication and comfort to Dallas hotel

DALLAS, TX  – InterContinental Dallas is proud to unveil the latest renovations to Dallas’s favorite business and leisure hotel. The InterContinental team has been hard at work remaking the 15th floor, now outfitted with six specialty bi-level suites, corridors and the updated Club Intercontinental, a luxurious VIP lounge. Internationally renowned architecture and design firm ForrestPerkins designed all of the renovations, continuing in the sophisticated spirit it established last year when it renovated the grand lobby, restaurant, ballrooms and meeting spaces in the hotel.

Guests can relax in style at Club InterContinental and enjoy daily breakfast, canapés and cocktails, or stay connected to the office with complementary Internet access. The dedicated lounge ambassador will cater to the specific needs of guests, with other perks including pre-registered check-in and a late 2:00 p.m. check-out.

“We wanted to bring a warm, contemporary feel to Club InterContinental and the two Presidential suites and four Luxury Suites that we’ve updated in the latest phase of renovations,” says Deborah Forrest, FASID, principal in charge.

“We were striving for the VIP lounge to be an extension of the work we did in the lobby and restaurant so we used a lot of the same finishes to create a connection,” says ForrestPerkins’ Associate Toby Bishop. For instance, the countertop for the guest services desk in the controlled-access VIP lounge is made of Angola Brown marble on the wraparound desk. This is the same rich brown/black marble used on the surround of the monumental fireplace in the grand lobby. The front of this club lounge guest services desk features striking quarter-cut zebra wood.

New built-in millwork in the U-shaped buffet features the same rich Angola Brown stone for the countertops, too. The Emperador marble floor in the buffet area and the dark espresso brown maple floor throughout the rest of the lounge create a warmer atmosphere than the former tile floor. Wall finishes have a textural feel with a wavy pattern in a muted champagne shade below the chair rail and a creamy background with a gold wash and a hint of sparkle above the chair rail. One end of the lounge features a media center complete with a flat screen TV flanked by built-in shelves. The other end includes a contemporary sofa in rust and golden tones and sleek side tables. Club InterContinental, which has a seating capacity of up to 42, will also provide lots of seating at dining height tables and a lounge space for VIPs to enjoy breakfast, hors d’oeuvres and other refreshments.

Of the pair of Presidential Suites that ForrestPerkins designed, one tilts towards a feminine feel while the other is more masculine. The Versailles Suite includes Corinthian columns, a fireplace, parquet floors and a palette of baby blue, chocolate brown and cream. The Coromandel Suite, the more masculine suite, features dark brown, a pop of orange and cream tones.

“We’ve added two contemporary angular sectional sofas that share an ottoman that is cut out of the sectional as if it were a puzzle piece,” Bishop says.

Both bi-level suites feature integrated media cabinets that house a TV lift that swivels 180 degrees. The millwork of this lift is upholstered in cream and silver shagreen. The TV lift and rotation are all remote controlled and the furniture piece serves as a room divider between the sleeping and lounge area of the expansive master bedrooms.

“InterContinental Dallas is excited to showcase its latest series of renovations, which will provide our guests with an even higher level of ambiance, sophistication and service,” said Scott Blakeslee, General Manager of the hotel.  “Our upgraded club lounge and suites are the perfect complement to our recently updated lobby, ballrooms and restaurant, and further confirmation that we’re dedicated to being Dallas’s premier hotel for business and leisure travel.”
