Large Paper-Mache Marionette & Giant Puppet Workshops

Saturday, February 4, 1:30pm-5pm and
Saturday, Feb 11, 1:30pm-5pm

AC105, Arts & Communications Center, Grayson County College

The workshops will include a PowerPoint introduction to building large paper-mache marionettes and giant puppets.  The session will also include hands on construction of a marionette or giant puppet.  The sessions are free but participants must provide the material for their marionette or giant puppet.

Marionette material needed for the workshop includes a mat knife, newspapers, rolls of masking tape, two (2) 1” X  2” X 8’ furring strips, seventeen (17) #10 screw eye hooks, eight (8) split rings, cardboard and brown butcher paper (packaging paper).

Giant puppet material needed for the workshop includes a mat knife, newspapers, rolls of masking tape, two (2) 1” X  2” X 8’ furring strips, eight (8) #10 screw eye hooks, four (4) split rings, cardboard and brown butcher paper (packaging paper).

The goal of the workshops is to create marionettes and giant puppets for parades and other events in Denison and surrounding communities.
