Leslea Lynne Vardy Underwood was born on June 22, 1978 and was joyously received in heaven on November 23, 2011 by her Lord and a host of grandparents, great aunts and uncles, and cousins.

In 2007 Leslea was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma which caused her to have a portion of her left leg amputated. In 2011 she was diagnosed with AML leukemia and fought a long, hard battle to overcome the cancer until her death.

The most important thing to remember is what she did with her life of 33 years. Leslea was the wife of her college sweetheart, Christopher Ray Underwood. Leah, her 5-year old daughter, was the light of her life, made each day worth living, and "is way too much like me (Leslea) sometimes."

She was Mama Bear to her step-son Zach and served as an attorney for the Texas Department of Public Safety. She was "blessed to be a part of an amazing church family - Wolfforth United Methodist Church."

Leslea was an accomplished student in high school receiving numerous academic honors. She attended South Plains College where she brought home the National Junior College Championship in the marathon. She graduated from the University of North Texas and then pursued her passion for a degree in Law at Texas Tech University.

The Frienship Ex-Students Association named Leslea as the honor graduate of the 1990's decade as a part of Frenship Celebration of 75 years. In 2011 Leslea and her brother SFC Rob Vardy were the Grand Marshals of the Wolfforth Harvest Festival Parade.

Leslea was a woman of true and unwavering faith. Her friends and family speak of her as possessing strength in adversity, stubbornness in her fight, and courage in all that life sent her way. She was a true inspiration to all she touched and many saw her as an example in which to live their lives.

Leslea is survived by many who love her dearly: loving husband Chris of Wolfforth, daughter Leah Belle of Wolfforth, parents James and Mary Lou Vardy of Wolfforth, sister and brother-in-law Louanne and Charles Addington, II of Wolfforth, brother and sister-in-law James Robert Vardy, Jr. and Marissa of Fort Hood, and brother and sister-in-law Chris and Tami Vardy of Fort Worth, mother-in-law and father-in-law Ray and Lynn Underwood of Savoy, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Stephanie and Chad Harper of Wylie, sister-in-law Renee Sohl of Bonham, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jason and Michelle Biggs of Bell Buckle, TN, and sister-in-law Rachel Garett of Mineral Wells. She was adored by her nieces and nephews Chase, Ashley, J.J., Madde, Brendan, Christopher, Lauren, Rielly, Jayden, Camryn, Ricky, Rusty, Jamie, Julian, Nathan, Dalton and Korbie.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 W. 19th St., Lubbock from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Wolfforth United Methodist Church, 102 Donald Preston Dr., Wolfforth, TX 79382 with Reverend Rich Jones presiding on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.; burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Wolfforth United Methodist Church, or the Leah Underwood College Fund at any People's Bank location.
