Denison -- This weekend will be a perfect opportunity to see why Texas Commission on the Arts selected historic downtown Denison as one of seven pilot cities for the Texas Arts and Cultural District designation in September 2009.

The thriving Texoma art community will be exhibiting new creations and Raku pottery demonstrations will fill Heritage Park as Denison Fall Fine Art Tour gets underway.

Regional and local artists will have work on display inside the downtown galleries.

The Fall Fine Art Tour is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5 and continue until 6:00 p.m.

At the Peanut Gallery, 114 N. Houston, Denison, Texas (located between the Katy Depot and Smitty’s), Sunday Morning Art and Coffee Club is featuring "Street of Crocodiles,” 78 original works of art by 50 artists. The theme of the exhibit is based in part on the metaphors, theme, and ideas inspired by the Brothers Quay film Street of Crocodiles.

On Sunday, November 6, the Fall Fine Art Tour resumes at 1:00 p.m. and wraps up at 5:00 p.m.

Inside Mary Karam Gallery, Lewisville artist M.D. Davis will be creating replicas of prehistoric Native American artwork in much the same way that America's original artists worked.
